Post by young927 » Thu Feb 23, 2012 8:08 pm

The long motor will drop straight in and bolt up, but the 2000 manifold will not go onto the 1992 engine, and the 2000 computer and wiring will not match the 1992 manifold.

Yeah you can really only use the short motor, and it will be a 4 bolt gear box instead of the newer 8 bolt so you need to make a couple of minor mods like the starter motor bolt, early is EJ20 later is EJ205....well it is on the turbo's.

I was reading another post a week ago and someone said that you can only upgrade to a newer motor. Not older.

Can anyone confirm this or wouldn't hurt to check with Qld Transport first.

Yeah legally the motor must be newer than the car.
