Electric brumby

Yep an electric one.
Have just been talking to a bloke in Kempsey who has done an E conversion on his Brumby.
We will be goning to Kempsey on Sunday to the inlaws and will check it out then.
I will take some photos.
It has an electric motor where the boxer was, the E motor has a suzuki g box behind it and it is rear wheel drive.

a gearbox eh? I keep reading , hearing, seeing no gearbox in EV conversions.
Someone in here a while back was enthusiastic about an EV Brumby.

Take ya camera won't you.

Look for demister a must for rego I think / heater for Kempsey ? Vacuum pump?

See if you can get details of the battery system, and engine.
Good point steptoe, most Individual systems run off the engine like demisters.
I wonder what he has done for things such as the ac, vacuum assist brakes, etc.

Most usually get an electric demister, an electric vac pump to satisfy RTA. Don't think a heater is required, more desired in some locations. Oh, take yer scales to see how lardy it is !

A brumby would be pretty good for an electric conversion - pretty light, plenty of space for batteries.

But I don't rate it if it only 2wd.

I remember looking at this ages ago then this thread reminded me of it. I thought it was in the US but there you go. Couldn't be many electric Brumbies around surely?

In Seymour there is an electric Morris 1100. Seen a few other cars over the years too.

Once saw a Pontiac bonneville with a diesel perkins engine in it.

Camera is on top of the list to take. But permission to post photos will also be required by owner.

The brumby has been Ginger Beered.
From what I understand via a very brief discussion on the phone
No AC, PS was removed (and will find a home on B1); VA brakes are via a separate motor to provide vacuum.
Sorry not taking scales just my enthusiasm. but I will ask.

SB Nah not that one as it has an EA Gbox and QLD rego.
Am looking forward to checking this very custom (built by owner) Brumby out.

The one Sam has linked is no longer 4WD if they removed its rear bits. I notice the very light weight Vortex mags on it

I think gearbox is kept for the simplicity of gettting power to wheels not for the 4 gear choices ....ooh, turn motor on backwards and get 4 reverse gears

The lightburn Zeta made in Wa in the late 50's or early 60's had washing machine parts and had 4 forward and 4 reverse gears.

Had a look today, it is pretty neat and only weighs 10kg heaver than a STD brumby.
He even took me for a quick lap. Photos up tomorrow.

How did it sound from inside? I imaging it is a little weird to not have an engine sound

yer it was.
plenty of road noise as all the underlay had been removed, it had cheese cutting LT tyres.
a electronic noise when it started moving and vacume pump noise when brakes were applied. He stated off in third gear. Can start in 4th in level or down sloping ground. Has never used 1st or 2nd.

Aw yeah, whack in the rear gear again and some of us might find a use for 1st and 2nd 4WD

3WD, 12 inch lift, three range gearbox (auto), ea81 SC12, we call it tripod.

Each one of them batteries are worth about $350 ballsy conversion but awesome!
