alternator noise

guys have another quick question, just swapped alt belt as old one was squealing but now the alt is making bad noise ive taken belt off and run brumby without it no noises guessing its a bearing stuffed. im only asking as im house sitting in the bush a good 1 1/2hr from home can i drive it back without the belt or just put up with the noise until i seek a auto elec . thanks

alternator belt also drives the water pump so no you shouldn't drive it with out the belt.
Could you have tensioned it up to tight.
drive it noisy if you have to but if it goes quiet all of a sudden watch the temp guage and alternator light for any change. Then stop.

Check the idler/fan pulley bearing, these little buggers make noise and can be mistaken for the alternator

Squirt a little water/spray and wipe on each area you think the noise is coming from, it usually quietens it down enough for you to isolate the problem.

Cheers guys belt is not over tight did spray it with inox but no change, I did drive around 39km today didn't effect temp and stuff. New question will a 90 l series 5 speed fit I don't think its a touring wagon please help.

inox on the belt or alternator bearing vicinity ?

L Seies five speed wil fit. I run one in my Brumby. Do search or better still just get stuck into it
