Brilliant review article of the BRZ do you agree with 4.5 star rating? What aspects of the car do you like/ dislike?

Hrmm... It seems that someone's been "busy" advertising the BRZ on a forum that's already interested in it.

Die hard fan of the new vehicle or someone spruiking on behalf of subaru?

No details filled out other than location in their details...

I'm happy to read the articles, but if you're only going to use your membership for advertising purposes I suggest you try it out on another forum. We're keen enough on the BRZ as it is.

If that's not the case I'll be keen to learn more about you, your interests and the ride(s) you've currently got ;)

Either way, for now, welcome to the forum.

Cheers

Unless the dealership bought it and don't want to sell it, this one in Bunbury is still on the lot.

Poor thing was out in the rain yesterday :(

The dealers aren't selling their demo BRZ's.

Toyota offers two versions, the base model has less features than the subaru and is ~4k less however the top model costs more than the subaru version. The BRZ sits right in the middle in terms of features and price as only one version is offered. Sounds like a good compromise. Plus the subaru in WRB looks better. :D

Very weak article, and terrible photos.

The car is from all accounts good but certainly underpowered compared to the standards expected today (especially in the US market, where it is significantly underpowered to competitors).

The other problem was it was expected to be a sub-40k car locally, it was then released (in 86 form) as a 30k car, and the BRZ and GT models are a 30k car dressed up, not a 40k car dressed down. Trim quality levels are still at the low end of the market, fine for a drifter but not so much for the rest of the market.

This.
I was talking to someone who has worked in the automotive industry for near 40 years who has recently taken delivery of one and considering how excited they were, their reaction surprised me.
The same person traded down from a sister brand V8 sports sedan and it's evident they were not expecting the car to be what it is, a $30k car.

Hope they get ten times the fun I get outta my $3,000 GLTA :D

I wonder how it compares to say a 12 year old Honda S2000 for GO and handling?

It's very much like an S2000 from what I've heard.

The biggest difference would be 0km on clock, warranty and capped price servicing. I think the power band is wider too. My mate test drove one and he said it pulled like a train from idle in third gear.

Plus no need to join a Honda forum!

And flogged out I bet. A bit like the Mazda MX5 back in the day - mainly the non turbo version from what I've read.

A good $30k car or a very bad $30k car??

I pick mine up later this week. I honestly don't care about this "power problem" everyone speaks of... my current daily is a stock EJ22 with a bad coil pack yet I still have a lot of fun in that. I am looking forward to exceptional road feel, handling and the resulting smile.

Plus if the power becomes a problem I can always fix that. And I'm not talking conversion either - I think the FA20 / 4U-GSE has tonnes of potential.

Yeah good Alex, what about yourself?
I do lurk here now and then, just don't pipe up often like I used to.

My BRZ is due to be released from the holding yard to the dealership today ;)

:D given it is some five or six years since Tim V was a regular in here he is still featured in the top posters list on screen - the recent pack of contributors have gotta try a bit harder to nudge him off !!

Seems Raptor are already in the process of making a supercharger kit for the BRZ / 86

http://www.raptorsc.com.au/kits.php?id=63

As well this site looks to be dedicated to BRZ performance modifications as well

http://www.modifiedbrz.com/forum/brz-performance/

and Youtube has videos of turbocharged BRZs in action (pity about the finger on the camera lense)

Hi all,

I went and had a look at a BRZ example at Brisbane City Subaru ... 070 ... + took a few pic's to wet your appetite :

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set= ... 7dadfeb905

I like most of what I've seen, ( it's silver colour also matches my Brumby ... :) ) although there are a few things that are not up to scratch like the Trims, odd placement of switch gear, lights, etc ... ( as mentioned earlier in this thread ) - but overall you get what wat'cha paid for I guess.

Would I get one if I had the money ? yep ... :p
