Anyone looking for L Series or Brumby parts?
I have Battlewagon's old 89Touring Wagon now and will be taking some of the goodies out for myself. It was destined to be metal scrap and is probably still on its way there.
It has an add-on aluminium roo bar in pretty decent nick. I prefer my integrated bumper and roo bar. Are these roo bars rare for L Series? I thought they might be. Maybe it can fit a Brumby too.
Whatever I don't want, I plan to sell cheap, trade for other parts or perhaps even give away, before it gets sent to the scrap yard.

Those roo bars are pretty common. Some prefer them over the replacement bullbars, I've got a roo bar on Ruby Scoo simply because that's what I was given for christmas years ago so I can't complain!
If you're keen to get rid of it I reckon it'll go on ebay for at least $50. I doubt it'd fit a brumby, it'd be slightly wider (not by much) and you'd need to make up some custom brackets to mount it.
So what's going into your L? I've put electric windows, central locking (best thing I've done apart from hooking it up to a remote
) and electric mirrors in from a touring wagon. Huge effort as I swapped the entire wiring loom to a touring wagon's - I've got the tacho dash as well
Everything after the loom swap was plug and play. The hardest part after the loom swap was replacing the door mechanism as mine didn't have the loops for the central locking actuator arm to connect into
That involved removing the glass and rails to get full access. Painful. I've really got to spend a day to align everything properly, I got it as best I could before I wanted to drive it (EJ conversion).
Cheers
Bennie

wonder if the front wheel bearing hub thingeys would make suitable donors for experementing to see if they will fit a Brumby properly.
OH yer I am after the tailshaft center bearing mounts, the ones welded to the car.

Sorry I did not know the difference in names between a roobar and a bullbar.
This add-on bar does have brackets, which I'm yet to remove. They seem all attached by large nuts and bolts.
Yes, it's a white touring wagon with a blue interior.
Corner lights should be working. But the battery is nearly dead so it needs a jump to get going to try them out.
Can check them out for you.
Yes I want the electric windows. I think I want the rear bench and maybe the front seats.
Does anyone want a blue dashmat?

Don't stress. The centre piece is interchangeable with the manual units. So you could have the tacho and cruise around with that until you find a suitable centre to swap in... Or you could just wait for a manual cluster. There's some wiring to work out for this though! - unless you swap the loom2nd Hand Yank wrote:I'm a bit undecided about the instrument cluster.
It's got a tachometer which is great, but since it had an auto transmission it does not have 4 Lo, or a 4 Lo indicator.
So if I swap the dash for a tach, I would probably lose the 4 Lo indicator.

Cheers

This touring wagon has 2" exhaust and my L Series only has 1 1/2" exhaust.
If I can, I'd like to swap exhausts.
Luke82 thinks better exhaust helps a lot with carby EA82's so I'd like to try it.
Did touring wagons come with bigger exhaust, or is this likely a modification?
My muffler happens to say "Genuine Walker Muffler" on it, so that's not from Subaru is it?

No, different sizes. You need to find a manual 4 gauge dash to swap it with, or just use the 4 gauge dash you find it in. I've got a habit of pulling things apart to make them the way I want them - including fiddling with the odometre to show the number of k's my car actually has on it as opposed to swapping in a cluster with lower k's on it. I'm waiting to see the double gold 500k soon!2nd Hand Yank wrote:So are you saying that I could swap in the left and right side of the instrument cluster and keep my middle with the 4 Lo indicator?
If it's from an L series touring wagon it'll fit your L series wagon, unless the touring wagon is 2wd, but I highly doubt that!2nd Hand Yank wrote:This touring wagon has 2" exhaust and my L Series only has 1 1/2" exhaust.

It's a mod, and yours is a replacement muffler. The 2 inch exhaust seems to be a sweet mod for the EA's in general. I've got a 2 1/4 inch on the 22 and it's neat for what I want.2nd Hand Yank wrote:Luke82 thinks better exhaust helps a lot with carby EA82's so I'd like to try it.

Good to see you're getting some use out of the old beast, I did a lot of k's in her, and it was better to see her go as a donor than be crushed for scrap.
I actually was a little sad when I left her in your driveway, but it was her time.
I probably should change my avatar pic now, as she's yours, not mine.
