That is small.
I'm guessing it's a center diff lock or 4wd engage switch.

Cheers Cam

yep. center diff lock.

They were never an option on the AUS delivered L series. Only available as an import.

Mine (factory dual range awd) came from a L Series coupe in New Zealand.

Yep, diff lock from the 0,2 x 0,3 nm photo

Subius - do tell about a EA82 twin carb...

(or point to a thread I missed)

I mate of mine was selling his EA81 twin carb set and it got me thinking... I had an old EA82 motor lying around so whipped the inlet manifold off to see if they were the same.

Turns out they are, so I bolted the whole EA81 twin carb manifold onto my EA82, a few minor wiring and fuel mods but nothing major.

I have never got around to making a build thread. Probably should one day.

The twins really do scream though. Awsome sound.

I have two air cleaner setups, one for road, one for off road.

This is the road one I'll see if I can find a pic of the off road one.

Sorry for the hijack.

Cheers

Edit: Found this thread from when I was looking for the above air filters.

Heads are different

You sniffing around the one here in SA? Rising Sun by chance?

The car has a (good) history on the forum if we are talking the same car.

Heads are different , in that a good head place can drill and tap the NA mpfi head, forever after deemed after to be the turbo side head , for oil supply and drain back. The other difference I know of is the exhaust valve for the EA82T is different spec factory - aftermarket replacement is same as NA.
It is not funny as these EA82T's seem to change hands on HG needs -it's how I got both my EA82T powered beasties. Both then needed a lot of time, a few dollars and a bucket load of hand cleaner. Still get a thrill after 80,000km on my rebuild :D
