can i apply for exemption for high powered vehicle

so my dad owns a business and i kinda work for him. Im on my p's and want to drive a WRX. If my dad buys a WRX for me as a 'work car', do u think the authority would accept it ?

I for one wouldn't be here if I had a wrx back in my early driving days...

So I agree with Toonga, earn your stripes and keep alive, then enjoy a wrx as a mid-life crisis!!

Well the only way to find out would be to ring your transport authority, or look online and read the fine print on the exemption application form.

You might possibly get away with it, should you though? Probably not.

Would be pretty hard to get away with, I had to explain why I was driving my old mans turbo territory (and that was for work reasons).

Also you don't learn a whole lot about driving in an awd and when they let go they let go bad.

Best to learn how to drive and control a car, then fully appreciate a wrx. They are a weapon.

Plenty of fun cars out there to drive on P's

didn't you see the kid on TV driving his dads twin turbo Bimmer on P's . He had no idea it was turboed. From memory he had to organise someone else to take it away - Mum and dad were away

I got to drive my day's STi for 3 days untill my mum found out. (Not insured)
I'm on my L's so it's legal.
Only drove it through the hills. Maybe a little over the limit possibly like a hoon.

With the awesome grip it begs you to drive it like its stolen.
Turn it into the corners and put your foot down.
Even he finds that and he's in his early 50's.
So driving it normally will NOT happen.
Mudking will attest to this as he knows the car well.
Too bloody powerful for someone who doesn't know the cars capability or know how to drive it properly.

LEARN TO DRIVE FIRST!!!
Otherwise I give you a fortnight tops.

Hehe perhaps not the answers this new member was looking for but it's true. Be patient and get some experience under your belt first and learn the capabilities and limitations on what a car can do. Be smart and you can enjoy it later

well if were placing bets ill put $50 on him making it not much further then the reservior on gorge rd XD

I spent a fair bit of time as a newly licensed driver in a early seventies corrola. I could flog it as hard as I wanted, wring every last horse from it, drop the clutch as hard as I wanted, throw it into corners, etc etc, and when I did efff up - and I did - I wasn't going fast enough to die.

So, another vote here for waiting it out, and gaining experience while you do.

It is not like they force you to drive a early seventies corrola or anything.

But wether you get it or not will be up to the authorities...

Modify the sh!t out of it of course.
STi gear 20psi etc. custom this custom that.
Not that I am recommending doing this or buying the car.
What are you going to be using it for exactly?
