Hi All,

I am thinking of upgrading from my Gen 2 liberty to a early 2000's model 3.0R in manual.
I just wanted to know if anyone had any good information on these cars such as common problems and what to be weary of.

THe cars I am looking at are all around the 100k mark so most will likely need a major service.

Does anyone own one of these cars?
if so i would be keen to hear your thoughts.

Also, if anyone knows of any goof forums that would be great.
I remember ozliberty used to be around but then it dissapeared.

Cheers

The Gen 4 Liberty 3.0l R-B came out with a six speed manual in 2005, both in sedan and wagon. None of the 3.0l Outbacks were ever manual though.

My dad has a 06 rb and he loves it. Great car.

The R has just kyb suspension and is alot smoother than my dad's RB. The R also has cream leather compared to the RB with black. I'm unsure if the R comes with the macintosh stereo which is probably the best stock stereo I've ever heard.

I'd do it, just check all the regular car things like service history etc.

Like what they said above about 3.0R-B does come with manuals.
Gen 4 are pretty good solid cars we have one and havent came across to any problems. I had Gen2 and now Gen 4 - basically same costs for engine service etc maybe slightly higher but not much. I did test drive an H6 3.0 litre nice to drive in but fuel wise is higher than EJ25.

The Gen3 H6 was not available in manual but the later Gen4 H6 was.

The Gen4 is a much nicer looking car (IMO) that the Gen3 but it's up to you and your budget.

The EZ30R engine is very thirsty and high to maintain but it is smooth to drive and has lots of overtaking power when needed. I have the Gen3 model Outback but have driven and worked on many Gen4s. The Gen4 uses the "fly-by-wire" throttle which takes some getting used to. Gleno is going to fit my old H6 into his Gen3 (once rebuilt) and planning to force feed it with a supercharger, so can't wait to drive that one
