That's the rear struts mounted in the boot - note the pivots at the top of the struts and the arm/lever that then disappears down to the rear suspension?

It's a crap version of an F1 front end setup with a type of "remote" strut... I guess you could call it that anyway. I see where they're getting the idea from!

I cant remember what that type of suspension is called but its pretty common on a lot of high end sports cars where due to the body being so low there's no room to put a strut. Thats basically what this is, just a coilover strut laying on its side connected by rose joints. Its difficult/expensive to do but works well. One prob though is any slack in the rose joints is multiplied causing a sloppy suspension

Someone has way too much time on their hands lol

Heh - I noticed that too ... :)

I wonder, would there be any advantage to a crossover set up like that ? Other than there's more room for larger shock ...

I like where they were going with the extended rear wheel arches, a bit like some WRX's but, they could have at least smoothed off the welds a bit with a flap wheel before they painted it  Oh well, I guess it has a kind of derby racing charm about it.
Will it ever end!?

Good in theory, to reduce unsprung weight.

Though, EXTREMELY poorly executed, waiting for failure.
