i have a 1996 subaru impreza originaly an ej20 but changed to an ej25 by the person i bought it off it runs rough and does not idle properly jumping from 500 rpm to 1500 and when it starts it revs up to 3000rpm i am pretty sure it has the ej20 ECU in it and the wiring has been changed as with the two crank sensors is it possible to use the ej20 ecu and having it run properley

Check the part number on the ECU to confirm to see if its EJ20 or EJ25.

Or buy an 'piggy-back' system to run the extra fuel and timing
