An old guy bailed me up beside my Brumby, wouldn't stop about how good they were, how many he'd had, sold on..once bought a twin cab Brumby ended up returning it coz it hadn't been engineered. Then mentioned a wagon he'd seen that had a Brum bum on it !

Think is too old to know what photoshopping is as well

Photoshopped an extra set of wheels into the back eh - banana splits time !

I forgot to include that it was not four doors, so not A true TWIN CAB AS SUCH cap lock off, more an extra cab, lesser payload as it was not any longer body, just roof line to cover the extra seats in the back - the Brumby already having tilt & slide forward seats

Six Wheel Drive ? ...

Now there's an engineering problem, how would you do it ?
Normally you'd just be adding a second set of wheels with out any drive ...

To make it work with 6WD, the middle diff would need a PTO or some sort of output to the second diff ... never mind the required ratios ...

If you spin a rear diff around it will run in the same direction as the one behind it - it works, no need for a debate there

Might need a set of short nose diffs but anything's possible. It'd be a go anywhere machine with some lift - which could be required for this set up if it were to ever happen *dreams*

If that photoshop image were to be a reality and it was to be lifted with 27's or something of the like I'd have it built with this in mind - you want those rear wheels to work with the larger tyres. That would be a mad setup I reckon

Note : It's a Nissan built T100

It could work like you say, by putting this vertically between the two diffs with the diff drive ends facing each other & then main drive shaft should clear the top of the first / front diff ...

I might have a go at modelling it with Sketch Up for you as I have already done the rear diff, so it's just a matter of doing the 'divorced' one ...

Ok - Just did a quick cut & paste job in SketchUp with what I had already done for the XV Ute & came up with this :

Just the Dually Diff :

I've tried doing the Divorced diff mention above, but couldn't get it to work as the diffs wont line up, mainly because the input shafts are on opposite side's to each other when facing & there's not enough room for a shaft to go above it.

I propose in the interim to use a third diff & butcher it by using the same back plate ( ie: cut down to size ) then re-weld where required. It should then bolt strait up to the back of the first diff, not 100% sure if it would work but worth a try ...

You could then get a proper casting done if it works ...

I'd probably be looking at a bit more space between the wheels - only to fit larger tyres

Almost looks like that sub frame was built to have one behind the other...

I doubt this would ever be a reality. I was mainly doing the photoshop for the experience, it was quite challenging! Haven't done one since.

Got some sketching done :

Notes : I've based this on the XV-Ute I did previously ( mostly becasue I like the look ) & the process was similar to how I did the other Ute - I've kept the stock chassis ( KISS ) & extended it about 1m in between the rear arches, then chopped the rear roof back to suit. You could have left the rear doors as they were, but it didn't look right so went with larger rear cabin instead ...

The Tub left over should be quite big enough for a full size quad bike or similar ( it's possible to widen the rear end also ). I'm not sure how it would go with 6WD, but would imagine it's pretty capable off road + could carry much more load than normal, but trade offs would be extra weight & need for a bigger engine ...

What do you think - worth pursuing ?

For a bit of fun I reckon it's worth pursuing!

6wd with low range, centre diff locks and double rear diff locks should make it pretty capable offroader.

Possible to get larger guards for some bigger tyres
