Driving along in the morning and noticed a horrible vibration and shanking noise coming from the rear passenger side of my gx impreza 2004. Also noticed a grinding noise as well, the 2 noises are consistent as the car moves. Was mucking around with it at work today and couldn't fault the wheel bearing on that side, now thinking maybe uni joints or centre support shaft bearing? Please help! Thanks

The wheel nuts are tight?
Is there a ripped CV boot?

I also sometimes get a strong vibration from the passengers rear....but she hates when I mention it!!!
Sorry lol, couldnt help it...
Seriously, I'm also thinking stone caught in the caliper grinding against the disc, worn/broken pads.
I always work on KISS...Keep It Simple Son
Look for the simplest, most obvious possibility first, then work your way through getting more unlikely/expensive as you go till you find the cause.
Good luck

Yeah the plan for today is work back in from the wheel, start at wheel bearing again, caliper ect. and follow it up the line until something isn't right.

Vibration could be the tyre.
Grinding could be the caliper's brake pad worn, or a stone caught in the dust guard or a dead CV joint grinding inside it's cup, but you'll usually find the CV boot wrapped up until it tears...
