Sexy Subaru Engines

Previously I was in awe of the Subie H12. Sure, it may not have been as competitive as the other F1 engines of the time but it was Subarus 1st effort in the premier motorsport. Given time & R&D it may have been a winner!
Now there's another that has caught my eye. Apart from all the carbon fibre bling (yep, I'm a self-confessed CF man-slut lol), there's a new combustion technology: ‘Pseudo Adiabatic’ combustion process.

Check out the welding on the exhaust, I'm guessing titanium

I dont know what the guys in comments are on about, but my take on it is
It appears that the scoop feeds fresh air into the turbo which then goes straight into the cylinders. The exhaust on the other hand is rather interesting.
I cant quite see, but it looks like a supercharger at the bottom that increases the pressure of the exhaust gas, which then feeds the turbo turbine. Rather simple idea and the increased benefit is in lower post engine exhaust pressure, which increases cylinder efficiency through better cylinder scavenging, but at the same time having very high pre turbo exhaust pressure, needed to create boost. Usually the heat produced by compressing air in the intake stream is a disadvantage, but in the exhaust its an advantage because it can create a bigger temperature difference across the turbo

So that's what that pump at the bottom of the motor is
I wonder if this technology will make it into mainstream applications.
And yes that exhaust looks like titanium.

Like it
Anther gratis shot, will try and find a few more ...
Add : just looked up what
pseudo-adiabatic means ... bit of mumbo jumbo that I cant quite understand just yet.
Also it would be interesting to find out if they have put ceramic coatings / parts on everything ...

Im only guessing going by the fact that there is a supercharger looking thing on the bottom of the engine where the exhaust comes out..., but I could be way off too

I dunno, if I had to guess I'd say dry sump, external oil pump.

+ 1 for oil Pump ...
Looks similar to this one :
More details here :
BRZ GT300 ... Now there's a sexy engine ...
Actually, the more I look at this eLMP 1.6 R motor, the less convinced I am that its a goer - its not made by Subaru, has no major backer with any kind of support other than the mob that design it. Doesn't even run as far as I can tell ( appears to be only a mockup ) - pseudo indeed ...
One the other hand, I could be proved wrong by seeing some video of it running ...

You're kidding! Thats a steal for an engine like that!
I'd have given my left testicle for it!

Aww... I was hoping Gannon was on the money with the supercharger - now that would be an interesting setup!

From the pulley poking out under the engine, pretty similar
Its been done before on a few engines, small supercharger for low rpm torque, turbo for high rpm blast lol
