differing redLines ??

Just looking at a tacho , suspected out of a slushbox L Series (auto) NA 3 speed FWD
It has broken
redlines starting at 5500rpm. I thought they went to 6500 before any red, so looked at my other L Series that started out life as a slush box as well, just a turbo added in the factory

, to find it is as I thought - 6500rpm
redline.
Different
redlines between NA and turbo ? Manual to auto ? year to year with the L's ??
What's your model &
redline?

1986 FWD vortex. Motor is an mpfi ea82 non turbo. 3 plug ecu. Redline is at 6500rpm. Cant say ive had it much over 6k though. Wouldnt wanna unleash all that power on the poor unsuspecting road

Most Brumby's don't have a tacho so NFI what its rev limit is, the '82 Touring Wagon does however : starts at 5500 & goes to 8000 rpm max ...
Cheers, Bantum ...

Crikey look at all those gauges!

All of the turbo models have higher RPM redline but don't know why but at a guess, I'd say it's due to them not boosting till higher in the rev range.
My original L.Series (which I brought new) was the best reving engine NA engine until I drove Jayson's little 1600 2 door sedan. That is a little rocket with the EA71 but no tacho to see what it's doing

Aaah Redlines & R.P.M. The Galactic Light Speed Red Rocket has one it stands for Reactor Particle Manipulator, in lay terms somewhat similar to nuclear fission but with a G restraint and multifocal redline shifter.
I was advised by the interplanetary Klingon salesman, person, being, thing at Autobarn that this very rare item is indeed essential when phasing through the space time continuum, orbital re-entry, emergency avoidance of solar flares, for calculating warp speed and when exiting black holes...unfortunately it's after market!
PS , I’m considering taking orders for those interested in such adventures

Carton each mate, Toohey New or Coopers Pale Ale preferred, but I am quite partial to Emu Export

Perhaps they have different hardened/nitrided pistons, conrods, crank? I know with the XTs & WRXs, Subaru kept changing how they treated these

I was under the impression for the brumby's where there was just the speedo, the numbers in the circles where were the redline was, and from my understanding it was 5500 RPM for redline, although never had a tacho

Fun fact I only noticed the other day, with the ea81 4sp man, in 3rd gear the tachometer and speedo needle point at the same angle, where as in my vortex it's 5th gear. Donno if all cars and tachometers are setup to do this but I thought it was cool.

OK, seen 6500 on the EA82M once or twice now, and no think it much of a good idea. Second is the gear to try it anyway

Think it was just nudging 5500 or 6000 when I hit 80 kph in second, reaching for third and by my side was an early EJ22 Lib and P plate looking driver - I hope he was trying hard also

. So, this donk goes better than my old EA81TC and is quieter, more so when that clutch fan is turfed in favour of a slim line 52mm Davies, Craig sold panasonic fan.

Way to go Jonno;) EA82's have been known to go really well in the right hands!

Hmmm, yes they are basically panasonic motors in dressed up:p
