My New L Series GL SportsWagon NEED HELP!!

Hey everyone,
Recently purchased a '93 L Series GL Wagon from a farm in country Vic.
The body and car is in great condition and it only cost me $400!
Currently the car is running fine, however, it is unregistered.
It will need a few things to get it in Roadworthy condition.
The biggest difficulty for me is finding the right mechanic to do the work.
If you are or know of any good mechanics within in the Melbourne Metropolitan area (preferably close to city and north of the city) Please let me know.
Here is the list of requirements for Roadworthy given to me by a mechanic:
– RHS Inner CV boot.
– LHS Outer Cv boot.
– Lower Control arm Rear bush.
– Front sway bar link Bush.
– Rear wheel cylinder.
– Rear inner & outer trailing arm Bush.
– Front discs
The mechanic also noted that there is a very minor oil leak coming from under the front engine casing. Not sure if he was bulls***ing me but worth a look I spose.
The car is currently in the body shop getting some minor rust repair and a new windscreen.
Also needs; Wipers and boot gas struts, But i can do those myself.

Hey JBNielsen
Nice find on the sportswagon, I can recommend "Suba-Roos" in Burwood (1/1 Alexander Dr Burwood VIC 3125 (03) 9808 5600) I have spoken to the guy a few times about my vortex and his been very helpful.
There is another Subaru specialist in Clayton "Subamods" 33 Garden Rd,Clayton VIC 3168
33 Garden Rd Clayton VIC 3168 (03) 9546 9738 )
I have also spoken to these people before and they seem to have dealt with a lot of L series because every time I have driven passed there are a few outside and inside the shop.
Hope this helps

Be warned mate... I purchased my L series for $500 (shot engine

) about 9 years ago. After getting it on the road it has morphed into this little beast:
You've been warned!

Awesome thanks guys. Currently the car is at the body shop getting new windscreen installed. Turned out to have a fair bit of rust under the seals but Im getting it fixed nonetheless!
Will check out all these places as soon as I get the car back.
El_Freddo, Looks awesome dude, I hope mine will be half as nice one day

. Did you do all the work yourself? if not, which mechanic did you use?
cheers

Good to see they put a one piece rubber around the screen, just remember to lift the edges and wash the crap out every 3 months or else you will have rust problems again.

tambox,
Yeah i noticed that there is a gap near the corners where gunk can get in.
Will make sure I remember to do that.

I'm proud to say that it's all been done myself with loads of help through the forum!
While it looks good in the pic - in person she's well used and abuse through the learning how to 4wd phase and the process of building it into what it is today...
No regrets though, she's served me very well and owes me nothing
Cheers

They are also known as Combined Servicing. Mark and Grant know L series cars very well and serviced my car for many years.

Yeah i noticed that there is a little bit of an opening in the top right corners.
At least the windscreen isn't gonna flyaway now!
Will remember to check that!
