Oxygen Sensor???

Post by Malibu » Mon Jun 02, 2014 8:05 pm

Hi, I have a 1999 outback and the red "Check Engine" light comes on intermittently and the car loses nearly all power and goes into "Limp Mode".This lasts for about 30 seconds and when the red light goes out, all is back to normal.A friend with a 2002 outback told me it was the Oxygen Sensor. Is this a common problem and is this an expensive fix?
All replies greatfully accepted.

It could be a number of things but I doubt the O2 sensor would cause you to go into Limp Mode. I'd recommend getting the Check Engine Codes out of your ECU and then let us know what the codes are. We should be able to help you a lot more with this info.
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
