Old fuel additives?

Gday,
Im heading back to Melbourne after 3 years in the Kimberly. My 2003 Forester has been sitting in dads shed for 1 year. The tank is, if I remember 2/3's full.
Is there any good additives in particular to help burn it up? I was going to head directly to the servo and top her up with premium and do a trip down the coast.
any thoughts?
I need to service her too. I will start another tread for a bit of help.
cheers
Oska

Half a cup of metho to displace excessive H2O - IF you are worried. I would just run it though.

PULP = yes

I wouldn't worry. The computers on these things will sort out anything for a bad batch of fuel and will let you know loud and clear if there is an issue.

I would have to disagree with Sven, I would use what is in the tank first- assuming no issues- before refilling. This way you don't have a high proportion of crappy fuel for a longer time.

I have heard of Metho. But I will see how we go. I know older carby cars, bikes and outboards don't like old fuel. I will just have to see where the fuel level is and assess it from there. Im not used to advanced tech/computers ect so hope it will help sort it out.
Thanks for your advice.

Just take it to the nearest servo and fill it with 98 asap, once the fuels mix you should be fine as they will bring your octane reading up

yeh servo is a couple of blocks away.
I would have to agree to "top it up" ASAP to help with combustion. I have seen on hot rod shows (USA) there is stuff like flash lube additives, worth the money?

Are there any other issues with leaving the car sitting there for a year? Obviously the battery will be flat. Sticking alternator brushes, fluids ect?
I will do the dummy check (oil, water, tyres, battery).
Anything else?

General oil/water/tyres = yes

Brakes would be my focus - see how they go (slowly)

I only picked mine up the night before last after it sitting for 5 months, I always disconnect the battery, it started first kick like every time I leave it for months at a time.
