I've been having a few problems getting parts for my 91 Brumby. I decided that it was time to get a new fuel pump. Looked at a few including GOSS fuel pumps, and they wanted leg and and arm. So I logged into Rockauto and ended up getting 2 Identical Brat/Brumby fuel pumps for $107.59 plus postage came to $130.00. Just when u go to the Subaru site u have to click on BRAT and 1987 is the last manufacturing date in the USA of the Brat (Brumby). Also I got a Hitachi reman. 55amp Alternator for Brat/Brumby for $67.29 plus postage $63.78 totaling all up $131.07. Also Sometime back I bought a reman. Distributor for about 60 bucks plus postage $150.00 , but generally lighter object are reasonable. Just got watch postage and Aussie dollar. I just sick and tired and sitting on the net going to so many different sites to look for parts only to come to a dead end.

Also parts.subaru.com are worth a look in - they have diagrams too which is awesome.

Both of these sites are good to find part numbers to then look up on other sites such as fleabay and amazon. Or to supply FROG with part numbers as to what you want

Is the fuel pump up the back with the tank or in the engine department up on the firewall ?

Its up back near tank and just behind passengers side cab'

Yeah, FROG is the best person to contact here with regards to subaru parts. Worst case, you can try auto parts warehouse

As a matter of interest check out the Rockauto site under Subaru Brat (which is the USA version of the Brumby. Last date of the Brat was 1987 in USA.

I wouldnt on principle shop with Rockauto.

They listed a ea82 SPFI MAF correct part number etc and a cool $350 thereabouts. So bought it.

Received the part and left it until I was to install it which was just over the 30 day warranty. Then realised the MAF was about 10mm larger in diameter- other wise identical. Some checking found the part was off a Nissan FI around the same period. It too had the same part number, made by the same manufacturer but there was a number 3 in another section of the part that separated these two items. No it wouldnt work...tried it.

Yeh sure, I was beyond the warranty period but as it was the wrong part I expected them to take the part back...not on your life even though they were at fault in stocking this part for a Subaru SPFI.

So just be sure it is the right part early on, otherwise you have a very expensive door chock.

I shop in Australia now unless absolutely cant get it here. And frog has helped me out many times an quickly. He's known Australia wide for his service.

Finally I've noticed that you have several threads here that all question the price of parts. Such parts from ebay USA etc. The saying "you get what you pay for" also applies to parts for your car - most times. Buying original parts from Subaru gives peace of mind. Sure some parts are cheaper but dont have the fast postage and personal service. So my advice is to pull back on the Friday night pizza to pay for the difference. It aint rocket science.

The only problem with trying to buy many Brumby parts in Aus is that they are not available so USA is the only option.
