High/Low Range
High/Low Range
Guys, the 88 Brumby has a faded sticker adjacent to the 4WD lever, for the life of me it doesn't make sense, can anyone decipher?. Forward arrow with the letter L, Rear Arrow with the letter R, centre circle with the letters Lo, Right Arrow with the letters Hi, Left arrow with letters PASS. . My understanding is with lever fully forward we are in 2WD, at centre in neutral & fully rearward in 4WD. What am I missing & WTF is Pass?
On a Brumby it's actually a sheet of alloy with printed artwork - not a sticker. The clear coat crumbles with age, but if you polish it lightly the clear coat will come off and it will look as good as new.
1989 Brumby - Shiny new red paint, stroked EJ20 phase 2 SOHC with Darton sleeves bored to EJ22, Wiseco high-compression pistons, Delta 2000 grind cams , EJ/XT6 5 stud with WRX 4/2 pots, 5-speed, 86 GTS seats and so much more.

I got one of those stickers new on Ebay from the US ages ago, probably a repro but looks identical. Can't seem to find them now though.
Is that even the sticker Wooster is talking about? Where does PASS come from?

Thanks guys, the sticker is completely different to the image posted by Subdoug. and if I could work out how to post and image I would. PedroJ the action is exactly as you say,. I am 100% confuised with the sticker as I have no idea what the Left arrow and the word Pass means nor the Right arrow with Hi
It's telling you that up indicates left, down indicates right, back is high beam, middle is low beam and pull for 'pass' (flash to warn you're passing).
Low range lever works like this. All the way down FWD, first click (detent) up 4WD, a bit more and its a neutral (so you don't manage to engage high and low range gearsets at the same time causing complete gearbox failure) next click up is low range in 4WD.
