skinny 10A wide fanbelts extinct

Post by steptoe » Sun Sep 27, 2015 10:52 am

Not sure how reliable word was a year or so ago - that the skinny 10A wide fan belts we use in our older Subes are NLA. Apparently it upsets VW Beetle owners as well (good reason to convert VW to EJ maybe?)

My latest EA81 belt was 11A900 so no worries, until I go to fit new 11A900 to replace old 11A900. The new, suspiciously like a 12 or 13A wide, and too short to fit?? Even with removing the adjust bolt on alternator. Succeeded in a swap for another 11A915 and 11A925 in other brands. Replaced just in time me thinks going by its half through cracks

Wondering if some makers are labeling a 12A900 as an 11A900 just to keep us happy, as being wider, will not fit same critical measures as same in 11A
