Hi all,

I'm curious to hear the thoughts of what my priorities should be now to ensure my Brumby is still in fine form 5, 10, 15 years down the track.

In particular with my Brumby living in the harbour city now, I am worried about rust and any particular spares that might be getting hard to find.

I know I have something special here and I want to do the right thing.

I'd keep it clean for starters, make sure to wax polish etc, and keep fluids fresh. A nice dry storage area / garage is a must also ...

Do that simple stuff and it should last a life time, you could go over board and put it inside a 'bubble' controlled environment ...

As above - keep it in a proper garage is pretty much the number one thing.

Drive it! at least occasionally/on a regular basis enough to properly warm it up etc. Keeps the fluids and grease splashed around the insides, keeps seals from drying out, turn the A/C on (if you have it) to keep the oil inside circulated. Along with a nice dry garage out of sunlight when you can, if you want to go nuts only drive it in dry weather.

+1 for driving it.
I reckon mine lost out when I had a period where it didn't get driven for weeks on end.
Sorted this now but its taken months to get the car back up to a reasonable state.
Definitely keep it out of the sun as much as possible.

Treat any rust that you know of - exterior, interior and under the vehicle

Store in a garage/shed with a cement floor.

Drive on Sundays. Always park as far away from the ocean as possible! Don't drive if there's a sea mist floating in the air

Fix up stuff that needs repair or replacement. Eg- cracked windscreen rubber which will lead to rust in the windscreen corners.

Coat with fish oil/lanolin all over.

I think that's about it.
