So where is the infamous thread about commodore heater taps?

Make sure the cable is not seized first, as that's normally the bit that stops it from closing ...

Got to come up with some way of mounting that on the original bracket too ... !

I couldn't find this mystical thread, I did find this one which gives you an idea of what could be done, but not how to wire the vacuum in.

With my brumby PJ I just left the heater tap open (it did work) as that's how the EJ system works. the heat is controlled by the way a vent is set.

I take it you need a heater valve that works to pass rego.

I had to replace the one on ours. I'm sure you can ditch the vacuum setup for the cable job of the MY...

It may be possible to hook up the heater vacuum to the vac line on the interior fan, not sure if that would work though. Another option would be to remove the vac portion altogether & fit the original cable onto the shaft piston ...

As I haven't heard of anyone who has successfully done the said conversion, You would be pioneer & have to test it first to see if the dial has enough turn to make it work though ... :/

The reason I don't want to use a vac control for heater is the only simple way to do that in the Brumby is either have one and off control and as I've never needed full heater in the Brumby I don't like this idea. I like the cable and my cable is fine is just my tap that won't turn fully off. I've pulled the tap apart but I think I need a new plastic valvey bit so basically a new tap. Never had the best of luck with Brumby heater taps. Ill get a vt tap and see what needs doing to mod it on. Thanks

I'm interested in this too - I know I have a perfectly good functional MY heater tap that was on my wagon before I took it apart...damned if I can find where I put it now though! That was 3 + years ago after all

I would be in favor of removing that vac can and adapting the shaft for the original cable/push rod control. I'm sure it would be quite simple. Not sure I'm a fan of the all plastic design but hey commo parts are cheap and plentiful
