Post by Gazza01 » Sun Nov 27, 2016 10:21 am

Been looking at the prices of those CV Boot Clamps/Bands or whatever they call them On Ebay and they arn't very cheap, however I have access to plenty of rubber engine hose Band clips thats screw up. Wonder if I could use them.

Depends on how big the screw bit is, as it may not clear & hit things + they will upset the balance ... ;)
I've heard cable ties can be used in an emergency, but the original type of bands are the proper way to do it.

What are you looking at? Cv bands only cost about $4 each.

You can use those hose claps - I've done it before. You'll need two clamps unless you can find a big one.

Then you need to punch holes in the clamps so they grip the rubber of the cv boot. You can't use these as the outer band on the outer CV.

At the end of the day the bands are better and can be used twice as they're doubled over the first time they're used.
