Snorkel for MY/Brumby

Post by Matt » Sun Oct 23, 2005 7:14 pm

Has anyone made a snorkel for Brumby/MY? How hard is it? I haven't been able to find them aftermarket, or does anyone know where i can get one from? Also does anyone have some photos of one on a MY/Brumby?
Thanks in advance
Matt

I have one made of stainless steel. You can make one quite easily with PVC pipe.

See where mine goes through the body? There's only the panel to drill through there, no reinforcement. So make your hole there and use appropriate PVC straights and angles to run it up your bonnet, then you can end it there or take it all the way up the side of the windscreen like mine.

In the engine bay you can then run some flexi-pipe joining it with your airbox. for the airbox you *can* fit it around the intake of the MY airbox, however you're better off with a custom airbox with a seperate filter.

Here you can see my engine bay, the filter is at the back on the spare wheel carrier area. A friend of mine made up a custom box for the webber carby to suit. I can't find a picture of it.

Theres been a thred on USMB about snorkles and peoples ideas and pics. Its called the Ultimate Snorkle Thred or something. Theres some pertty good looking, and some bad looking ideas there. But these someone in aus that makes them? Sounds good, I'll have to see a pic of one. Just remember if you modify the intake box your car can be defected. :?

Phizinza they have some different ideas over there.... however there was some useful info which included the fact a jeep snorkle can be modified to fit.
Thanks

Have sized a jeep snorkle up and it went close, also an early patrol snorkle looked like it might go. I'd give the chap from the qld club a go though myself.

very admirable Stinky, got any pics of it in action like swimming a river?
I guess being ea81 its a better sealed motor? I know the ea82 s with their timing belts covers are rather hopeless as a sealed motor.........
