What came out with a ea71 motor & more to it this gear b

Post by seagull » Thu Jul 06, 2006 2:03 am

I have a very low K ea71 motor its been in the factory for a long time under cover & has done only a few ks .The gear box has a diaphragm that works the rear out put shaft & looks like it gives full time drive out put .

I dont have any need for it but has my interest what the hell it came out in .

I was told the gear box is a 5 speed it has no low range selector

I have the package in the forsale section

ideas

I think these motors came out in many different subes in some of the "poorer" countries and were made right up until recently and possibly still being made and fitted to some vehicles.

I dont think they have been made until recently. All the small capacity motors in Liberties and Imprezas for povo markets are EJ series (ie EJ16 and EJ18).

EA71s have been long superceeded.

I don't know anyone still running an EA71... the upgrade to an ea81 is just WAY WAY too easy.

Dave

Some wouldn't call the EA81 an upgrade... I beleive most EA71's have hydraulic lifters, better head design and similar if not more HP than the average EA81....

From what i know with the specs on my car, its a ea71 with 50kw/67hp at 5,200rpm for the 2wd and 48kw/65hp at 5,200 for the 4wd and torque is 110nm at 2,400rpm and 108nm at 2,400 for the 4wd. As for the early ea81 i dont think its much more hp maybe 10hp or so.

I seem to recall Steve-Rising-Sun replying something similar earlier this year in a post. If I remember correctly the EA71's were made long after the EA81's were in Japan, and were of a better design too - making more power too to the EA81.

Only catch is they are rare and import only, and tend to drive the price up.
