EA82T air/fuel ratio - anyone measured theirs?

Post by subanator » Fri Jul 07, 2006 12:22 am

I have my wagon being looked at for huge flat spot in throttle response.
There is already a tread running about this, so all the details are here:

I was wondering if anyone has measured their RX turbo air/fuel ratio so I can compare mine? It is currently 13:1 and injector pulse width is maxed out as too with the air flow signal @ 7psi boost (stock engine).

The bloke who is now looking at this for me has nearly reached limit in trying to achieve 12:1. Is this normal for a stock engine tune?

I dont want to go aftermarket ECU with this engine, dont consider it worthwhile - an EJ20, yes, but a 15 year old engine, no.
Has cost me shitloads this week to get to this point.
Cheers, Roger

I don't get anywhere near maxed out injector - stock boost.
so don't know whats goin on there......
I have it going to 10:1 at acceleration + boost - but this is adjustable fuel
map.
re aftermarket ECU - you only need fuel only type, available cheap sometimes off ebay

Cant use a "fuel only" on a 4 plug ECU, as it drives the distributor curve too.
Older 3 plug ECU - yeah.

Could your air flow meter be reading wrong?

Being a hot wire type, it measures air flow by heating a special coil of wire placed directly in the flow of the air, the signal generated is a measure of how much this wire is cooled by the air flowing past it.
If the wire has gunk on it, it will change the way it reads.

How did you test that your injectors were maxed out?
