Post by vincentvega » Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:21 am

Bit of a bummer, from what i have heard shannons is the cheapest around

Just make sure they don't mean they won't cover it while it's off road. Know what I mean?

Like stinky, I have my lifted L insured with shannons and the 2" lift is listed in the policy. I looked at my PDS when i first got the cover and i don't recall anything that is restrictive on offroad work. I recon i should check now though...

When we started with Shannons Brett was on the phone chatting to them about the cars. I don't think they said anything about off road to him. As we have all the modified vehicles with them.

i didnt misunderstand the guy, he basically hung up on me when i told him the car goes offroad. I asked "so you dont insure 4X4's at all" and they said no, thanks for calling BYE. Looks like im going with AAMI for full comp.

Thats bordering on rude from their behalf, Dane. Maybe its worth a call back to get the full story (and double check) - mention you know others with 4WDs insured with Shannons.

Assclowns in call centres - you have to love them.

I've never had a problem with shannons so I emialed them and got this reply

Hi Gordon

The comments on coverages are incorrect, we do cover them and off road. We don't make a habit of joining forums to comment, however from the information it appears that the underwriter found VincentVega not the right risk for Shannons. We pay more attention to the customer than the car.

That said, the reaction from our staff based on the comments in the forum are not what we would expect. I would encourage VincentVega to make another call and ask for some clarification.

Thanks for the tip on the comments. Please let me know if I can help any further.

Regards

Shannons

Lol. Not the right customer?

licenced 8yrs, 25YO, rating 1, no fines, no accidents, no claims... not even a speeding ticket ;) and no turbo!

I will give them another call.

Be careful with AAMI I have heard if it isn't a marked road on the map goodbye Insurance Claim a lot of the larger 4x4's are insuring with CGU Insurance as they will cover you wherever you go road or no road apparently.
