Wow, I never knew about this concept! Shame it never hit production, or was never resurrected. Retro is in (nudge nudge wink wink Subaru Japan!).

I read this article - https://viruscars.com/the-next-generati ... never-was/ - and found several inaccuracies annoying! Otherwise it was a good article and I enjoyed reading it.

1992 was the end of Brumby deliveries to Australia, most likely killed off by the lack of safety features in this model. 1994 was the end of the L series production.

Subaru Japan didn’t want the Baja produced but Subaru America went ahead with it anyway - and as history tells us it was a bit of a flop in a number of areas.

Interesting that the Suiren apparently sported an EJ25 - that wasn’t from the legacy flagship (another inaccuracy in the article). It would be interesting to see if the EJ25 in the Suiren was SOHC or DOHC.

Like many concept cars this one was probably destroyed if it wasn’t quietly siphoned off to someone’s private storage.

Sadly, I think if this was to ever take off now it would need an EJ drivetrain from the 90’s that I reckon was way more reliable/sturdier than those of today that seem to be overly complex, built to a set budget and shooting for extremely tight emissions and economy figures.

Thanks for sharing Bantum, it’s amazing what you find! Maybe you’ll find someone that has some pics of their own from the motor show(s) that the Suiren was displayed at to add to your wiki article. It’ll be a long shot though!

Cheers

Bennie

I haven't got a definitive answer yet, but this guy Ishi Imamoru is the closest lead I've gotten so far :

https://cardesign.jp/global/message/sub ... amoru.html

Can any body confirm this ?
