Does anyone own a Tribeca yet? Looking for opinions.

I have friends who are contemplating buying a 3.0L Subaru Tribeca, among other brands of vehicles. I am wondering if anybody owns one yet and if so, what is their opinion of the performance and features. They have a small caravan (about 900kg unladen) which they tow only on the roads and mainly short distances (100 - 200klms) They currently own a Mitsubishi Challenger, which in most respects they are quite happy with, except it only has 5 seats and they would like to have a 7 seater. After looking at several makes of vehicles, they have possibly narrowed it down to a 7 seater Volvo (which I know nothing about, so I have no opinion of it either way) and a Tribeca (which I also know little about, but it's a Subaru and that's enough for me) Seeing as though it is somebody else's money I am trying to spend on a Suby I thought I would open it up for discussion.

Cheers - Subegirl (Kim)

Amy has a friend with one, she said "Yes it is as ugly as a hat full but it's the best car she has ever driven, wouldn't trust anything else with her family's safety."

i personaly havent driven one but from what my boss has said about the one he has driven, it was a very confortable ride, went very well and was extreamly quiet, much quiter than a liberty.

Also is there a thread about the new tribeca being 3.6L? this should help move the weight, although it already has the same/better power than a v6 crumpledore and falcon so i cant imagin this being a current problem.

and yes i am sumwat biased being it is a subaru, as ugly as it is... tho it is growing on me

Some hi res pics of the new version: Front and Rear

Not quite as outrages, looks a bit plain and boring (conservative?)

The part I like:
Future Tribeca editions may also gain Subaru's recently announced diesel engine. Believed to be of about 2.5 litres in size, it features a horizontally opposed boxer cylinder design.

The Tribeca diesel is not expected to be available in Australia before 2009
