EA82 inlet manifold > EA81 ??

Post by steptoe » Mon Apr 30, 2007 7:00 pm

it has been said before here that the two manifolds are interchangeable between the two motors. I am thinking of using the spare EA82 to clean up and get a bigger hole cut in and weld an adaptor plate for a weber.

Looking at EA82 it has thermostat and top hose outlet at front whereas EA81 has it on the back side.

anyone actually swapped an 82 onto an 81 ?

do you use 82 top hose ?

anyone reading this - done ! EA82 top hose , Mackay CH2603 fits as a top hose, esp to EA82 rad in an MY

There are a few guys there that but the ea82 spfi inlet manifiold onto their ea81. Apparently a very reliable combination apparently. the spfi manifold is the same as the carby one, only it has an injector in place of the carburettor

Unfortunately spfi was not sold in Aus. I tried to get a spfi loom and throttle body as i was gonna convert my carb to one, but i couldnt get one.

So yeah, you should be able to fit the carb manifold off an ea82 to a ea81 engine.

right ! that was some read. i missed anything about hose differences, musta been the only thing he missed !!

we could do with an agent in the USA picking out bits not available in good old Aus, pay scrap rates and ship it out here, but i guess ebay is there for that

I have a manifold i cut a bigger hole in , mounted a 2.3litre volva trottle body on and fed LPG through it via about four feet of 50mm poo pipe and silicone bends . other than the bog down at idle it went as well as my twin hitachis
