Found this program by Google called sketch-up. http://sketchup.google.com/index.html
its relatively easy to use.
Made this mock up of a rear bar and tire carrier http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... revstart=0. using the hard work of a bloke from http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com. Here is his write up of his efforts http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/sho ... hp?t=64441

and yes i hope to make something similar

this is a better version

I'm currently using 3d modeller and layout on the mac's at uni. I'm itching to make a model of my subi and do a 360 view of it but have to work on my folio first :(

and i've thought about making a 3d wheel carrier too - but you beat me to that one ;)

Cheers

Anyone used Autodesk Inventor?

yeah, i use autodesk inventor 10 on a daily basis at work. top program for 3D modelling. In my opinion, the only better program i have used is Pro Engineer, which is quite amazing in its A.I.

my 2 cents

How do you change the units to metric in sketchup?

Just found it. Go to the window drop down menu. click on preferences, then template. then it will give you a list of choices

awesome. thanks heaps.

looks a nifty little program. There a few problems with axis selection in perspective mode but otherwise quite easy to pick up :D

got a wee bored thismorning on my day off uni so did up a mag :D not to scale at the moment, but would be easy enough.

very similar to sunny, but it was more of a excercise in learning

Now let's see you design a new EA82 head, turn it into G-Code, transmit to the 5 axis foam router and cast a new head :p
