I'd love to come help, but unfortunately I'm not free until next weekend.

Do the revs raise up and down at all? Have you checked for fault codes?

conversion help

Post by cheffy » Thu Dec 01, 2005 2:15 am

Hi guys
I'll tell you what we've done just in case there is something we have missed.
-Changed the fuel pumps
-swapped the air filter sensor
-pulled out the harness and connected it up to another motor and it ran fine
-Changed fuel filters
-Changed spark plugs
The fault codes that are coming up on the computer is a fault in all 4 injectorsl I think it's codes 16,17,18,19 from memory, I've got a mate Chris who's been helping me out with it,he's been invaluable but I think where staring to scratch our heads with all the things we've tried.I'm pretty sure Chris said that he'd checked the injectors as well, tomorrow I'm going to pull out all the injectors again and give them another check just to see if there is any crap in them or if ones jamming up which could then upset the fuel pressure going to the other injectors causing the fault codes to come up.
Basically it won't idle when cold,it hesitates a bit when accelerating and throws a couple of bangs out the back(unburnt fuel, or missfires) when it's warm it will idle but not without shaking as if there is a overdone cam in it.
if you guys could add any comment or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated
Regards Cheffy.

Hi suba mike
Sorry mate yes we also have checked for vacuum hoses,Do you remember me I've spoken to you a couple of times on the radio you put me onto this site some time ago. I think you know Chris, out in Canningvale who's been helping me with the conversion,a bit of a subaru buff isn't he!

LOL. Just about all the WA guys here have met Chris at one time or another.

If the computer's bringing up each injector code, I'd suggest swapping to another set of injectors before having the current ones cleaned, just to make sure. Chris should have heaps lying around.

Just a general question to anyone who has done this conversion, what attention is paid to the VSS?
I see on other forums its a "must have" to get the ECU to run out of limp home mode?

My coupe has had nil attention to everything gearbox. I do intend on wiring up the reverse lights, but all I can see the VSS giving me is a 180kmh speed limiter....

There is some reason to hook it up, I'm sure someone more EJ-savvy than me will tell me off for it, but as of yet I've not had a problem there.
