heres some pics for you guys. Sorry i took so long, we decided we better go test the thing on the beach ;) A high tide run up Bribie island was a good torture test for it (and the driver!)

Before: (suspension was stuffed... rear bump stops were hammered when i pulled them out)

Overall I am VERY impressed with this car. Using all Gen2 outback gear in a Gen2 shell makes life so easy. Lifting this thing was far more straight forward than my car.

The car is now on its way back to Wollongong from Brisbane, and will probably have just clicked over 300,000kms. Even with all those miles on it the engine is still fresh, and mated to the dual range manual it makes easy work of the beach. It gets WAY better economy than my auto aswell. 9L/100 compared to my 12L/100

I will start another thread with some details of parts used etc in the tech section

Please do - I would be very interested in the process and costs of the conversion.

car arrived at my place stock as a rock with factory 14's

during the lift i bolted on my forester steelies as a test fit

now the car has 16" GT forester alloys with 215/65 pirelli STR's. i picked the rims up cheap off the RS liberty club

you will see the forester steelies are on my car in the pics on the beach

sump guard

Post by nicklib » Sat Jul 28, 2007 12:26 am

Gday
I have a similar coloured gen 2 lib that i have just fitted outback struts and raised springs to. i noticed in one of the pics that there was what looked like an ea81 sump guard on the floor. just wondered if you bolted this on and if so was it much of a drama. my lib has no lift so may affect the position of the sump
Also wondering how much down travel you have with the larger springs and struts (did you fit raised springs?). while i love the clearance im finding that speed bumps and wash outs etc cause a fair thud when hit with any speed (but who really cares!!).
Anyway great looking car and thanks for any thoughts..

Nick , you have to slow down mate. Did you end up putting the bigger tyres on yet? You can get a factory sump guard for your Lib. There could be one laying around here some where. If you want to come and look for one you can.
