Brumby bullbar

My Brumby's alloy bullbar is looking quite tired after being bent and knocked around. I'm tossing up whether to get another conventional styled alloy bullbar, or go for a steel tubular bar.

Here's what I'm considering.....

Conventional alloy bar
Looks pretty in polished finish and has some upwards angle on the wings (not much though) for improved approach angle. The solid front C channel and thick centre tube appears to block a fair amount of potential airflow to the radiator. Does anyone know who's Brumby this is?

Custom steel tubular bar
I haven't seen any Brumby's with custom tube bars, but I'd like to have high clearance under the front corners and also maximise airflow to the radiator. Here's a couple pics to give you an idea of what I had in mind.

I don't mind trimming back my front quarter panels to accommodate a tube bar. I was thinking of using the chassis rails and the front tie down bolts as anchor points for the bullbar. I don't plan on fitting a winch.

Okay, so what are your thoughts. Should I go conventional or tubular? All helpful suggestions and ideas are welcome.

tube bar all the way haha and not really hard to make you might have to do some cleaning up of the front thoe cause it might look messy

That Brumby in your first pic was the shop hack for Suba Xtreme when they were still in Maryborough. Converted to auto

I am in the process of making tube bars for the 'L' series & early Ser1/2 Liberty...

With the 'L' possibly being winch capable.........

Roflmao. That hilux and fab shop belong to a couple of mates. Never expected to find them posted on the subie forum.

Jack, if you plan on touring around out in the sticks definitely go with something that has radiator protection like the subxtreme bar. If its just for protection while out having fun go tube.

Tubular!
looks much tougher and much more Mad Max style... if thats what you want haha.
To me the alloy is just for looks? or bumping into things in town haha, not that i do that... i don't have one.

Looking at the alloy bar on that sweet brumby makes me think alloy, but the idea of the tubular bar on a mad looking brumby has got me torn on this topic...

Personal choice i think - you'll probabily find people who hate it and people who want to know where they can get one...
