A million thankyous are in order. IT RUNS!!! and to top it off it is running great!
Tambox, Gannon Elfreddo and Frog. thanks to all.
This morning I hot wired the fuel pump and let it run. start engine with little throttle and didnt see fuel spraying in the throat. bared a tiny bit of the wire into the injector and placed hot wire on that and heard the 'click'. did it a few times. reckon could have been gummed up as suggested. took off the top plate with the injector and watched the fuel pulsating down. At this point I decided to change the spark plugs because they were black from running the rich supercharger. Put iridiums 44 thou in there.
Started up and was really rich. Was running enough to do the timing to 20 degrees (about 20mm around from TDC). ran much better. let it run 30 seconds and bingo- the computer must have adjusted itself and smooth as....thanks agian guys.
I owe you blokes a ride!!! Video shortly.

Do they only come in red? Not that it would take away from Tweety's look.Tweety wrote:see http://www.autoflight.co.nz/reduction/ this guy Neil apparently has these alloy valve covers for sale. About $100 NZD each. I like em.
And no worries with the help, I was hoping to "have" Tweety running by the time I left your place! So stoked you got it started though!
Good feeling isn't it?? All that anticipation has paid off. Now for that first ride

Cheers

Well Toonga will be a few days yet. Tried to extract a plug to place a thermatic fan sender switch into it and broke the plastic end of the Alfa33 radiator.
Alfa 33 radiator is a tiny 245mm high and 500 wide. its one of the smallest around. but no longer imported into Australia. So had to order the next model Alfa up being 325mm high....another 80mm.
Thats ok as it will provide better cooling and keep my legs warmer (LOL) but it means modifying the mounts. So a week or two. its in the mail. then time for another video.
BTW..I have white wall flappers on the rear tyres (proper white walls not available on 295/50R15. And they keep breaking off. then saw a youtube guy that installed them on a beetle rim...seems I havent been attaching them properly. he uses a rubber mallet to get the inside rubber right into the rim of the wheel before inflation. so getting those sent too. when that is all done time for another youtube video.

Good to see it running Tony,
Bummer about the radiator, shame you have already bought one as I'm thinking of changing mine to custom racing tigged aluminium one and I don't know if many people would be interested in my Alfa one, it is a brand new genuine Alfa one too

Bummer!!! I suppose it was the smaller Alfa radiator too. Which is the one that fits perfectly in the spot. Never mind. The later one is 80mm higher but it will fit.
You should be able to sell it Joel. try alfa forums. you simply cant buy that radiator in Oz anymore, the one thats only 245mm high.

It's the same small 245mm one you had.
I've got several of them, the brand new one in now and 2 original spare ones.
I don't actually "need" to replace it, my car has never got hot with it but I like to err on the side of caution.
On 40c+ summer days with the A/C on it runs a little warmer than I'd like now with the EJ25 in.
Never seen it get over 100c but I'd like to see it run a bit cooler in the height of summer.

Joel, I had the same hot issue when the radiator was mounted above the engine. I fixed it by running a motorcycle radiator off the heater lines.
All Alfa radiators are original so to speak. most made in Spain.

The one I've got is made in France,
When I was buying the new one I did look around, there was another company, might have been Fenix? that made a cheaper aftermarket one I didn't trust so went the genuine Valeo one from France.
Its interesting how they have all just disappeared, about 3 different companies were selling those particular rads on ebay not that long ago.

Well Joel, got my new Alfa radiator today. It is made in South Africa!!!
Just fitted too. lack of mounting lugs is a problem though but I'll get through it. Had to order twin thermo fans as my 12 inch ones are too big.
Twin 10 inch ones with Shroud will fit nicely.

oh boy. had an issue. Fixed it though. Went for my first ride...200 metres and back. and the engine wouldnt rev at all. limped home and it stalled. wouldnt start. checked everything. Came to the conclusion it flooded. disconnect the fuel pump and it started. Reconnect fuel pump and it revved fine. took it for the same distance run and no problem.
So why would the engine get flooded with fuel. Hoping it is a one off. But at least I know what it is.
I am about to go for a longer run.
As for the radiator its in and working. very sng fit with rubber mounting. waiting for the thermo fans now. Decided not to put long thin bolts thru the fins for the therm fan mounts. will build a frame around the radiator for the cowl to bolt to. A stainless steel mob in Shepp have offered to cut and bend some angle sheet (polished) to surround the radiator. That and some new red mesh for the front and it will look great.
The first pic is of the TB. the top RH corner is a screw but dont know what it does. the bottom left hand corner is a throttle stop screw that I had to adjust to get the idle up. Have posted it on USMB. someone there should know.

I've had one guy tell me its jets adjustment. then I shouldnt have touched it. my ride was great- very smooth but 100kph top speed. and when I go from full throttle to mid throttle the speed increases a bit. must be rich. any suggestions? I dont want to screw it in and make it all too lean.
