EOI -> Cape York Trip 2010

Post by Xtreme_RX » Sat Sep 06, 2008 9:46 am

Just seeing if there is any interest here of doing a trip to Cape York in 2010.
It would be a 3 to 4 week trip around August / September / October. (Remembering wet season is December to March)
There would be lots of fishing happing too.

This trip is a very difficult trip for a Subaru. The vehicles will need to be in absolute A1 condition mechanically, it is not recommended to tow a trailer especially with the smaller vehicles we drive.

If you have any suggestions / queries please post here...

Thanks - Justin

i could be interested depending on time and whether i can get time off work, etc. I would recommend the old telegraph line, it is a real good run. ( i have been up the Cape on the DRZ400)

I'd be keen, but ask me again in 2010.

I was thinking of submitting this trip to the QLD Subaru club.

I will have some more details about destinations etc in the next few days.

too late i seen the post dibs and we are goin, by the way ive done the cape used to fish at weipa every year out at mapoon ,havent been now for over five years last time i went to top end , the road was trechorous and we were in a nissan patrol towing a pop top camper ,have no idea how the friggen coaches got up there that did but they got there. we camped at seisa, yes it was great but i gotta say i dont know why when the road was already trecherous as in we were driving on the edge of the road with drops as big as your whole tyre to drop into if you slid off the track. nah the gunshot is a nightmare have never heard a good story about that road.
we were on the normal road to top and that was enough for me i tell ya it took us all day to get back one of the days as everybody in front of us was bogged it had rained the road was mud like clay and a circus was trying to get up to the north bamaga and was bogged.
but yep im up for it coen camping on the creek is great and far out some realy good crayfish in that creek.
and archer river what a spot camped down on the river bed there its just incredible. fishing at mapoon janie creek which is one hour from weipa was incredible camped out ,but bamaga and seisa was a real dissapointment for me i expected lush tropics not dusty dirty rip off town.
love weipa though wanna live there lol and barra fish for rest of me life
yep me and dibs will go if he dont im in and he might be filing for divorce lol.
keep us informed .

Gunshot would be fun there is now a girly track around that would almost let a standard Suby get through. That was almost 18 months ago.
