Post by twilightprotege » Sun Feb 28, 2010 10:47 am

so i went up there yesterday with the family. followed the tracks, mainly the classified easy tracks, but also a few medium tracks.

great area there. some fun tracks, lovely views and good places to have a swim. will post some pics once they are off the camera.

anyone else been there?

yeah it was lovely. those were the easy tracks - ie where it was easy to pull over and stop. will definately make a return trip there as it's so close to brissy.

check out http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/daguil ... il-map.pdf (main map) and http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks/daguil ... ty-map.pdf

the way we went was first to get to dayboro. from there we went along Lacey's Creek Rd and turned right in to Wirth Rd. On the top map you'll see that takes you to May Creek Rd (moderate grade track). was pretty steep, but certainly not "moderate grade". however, you'd need good clearance and 4wd in a few spots where it got a little slippery - we went in drizzly weather.

from there we turned right in to Range Road, followed that all the way along to L Traverse. range road changes into Peggs Rd and then Lovedays Rd. That road was easy, ie where the pics were taken, but L Traverse was a bit tight in spots to - i thought about the same difficulty as May Creek Rd.

we then went down to Rocky Hole for a swim. Stocko fwd cars can get to that spot following the easy roads so if you just want the swim, anyone can do that.

after the swim we went home via Top Rd (moderate grade), then once we got to Settlement Rd it was bitumen all the way home.

if you're planning on doing lots of driving on the tracks make it a full day. we left northside brisbane just after 9, and with morning tea in Dayboro, a few stops and a swim, we didnt get back home until about 4.
