This is in relation to a 94 Liberty wagon, EJ22 that has a great service history and runs like a dream...

A couple of times in the passed month, my car has mysteriously turned itself off while I'm travelling along a freeway. The symptoms are:

Im driving along, sudddenly there is a loss of power and I cant get the thing to keep driving. I put in the clutch while Im still cruising, and all the lights on the dash come on, and the tacho drops as though the engine is OFF. (aka when you go to start the car in the morning)

I can then either roll start the car or start it with the key again and away I go.

What can be causing this? It has only happened a couple of times, but can be quite dangerous when Im hurtling along and loose the power steering.

Any help?

Check the codes from the computer. Someone here should be able to tell u how. I had a VL that had a intermittent problem with its crank angle sensor. It did the same thing. Basically the sensor was malfunctioning so the computer shut the car off... at 110 kn/h in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere. A 5 hour trip to Armidale NSW took me 10 hours. I then drove back hope with not one problem. So It sounds like on of the engine sensors are playing up. U can test these using a service manual and a voltmeter I believe.
