Congratulations to mr Steptoe for taking home the trophy for "Best Vintage" today at Subinats in his mint AWD turbo Vortex, a deserving winner.

I'll put up some pics during the week when I have a computer, not so easy on my phone....
I forgot to mention ImprzeaSRX's 82 MY hardtop, it looked tough as dropped and wearing 15" Sunnies :-)

It was a great day out.. With myself, willy and steptoe representing old school subes everywhere!
Well done to Steptoe for taking out the category, your vortex is very tidy..

For some reason, I can attach the image, but you'll have to click the link!!

Schucks, thanks guys. Anyone could do it, just buy a car now, put it away for 27 years and bring it out :)

My show'n'shine prep did not include a vacuum - bloody grass on the floor inside too - still pulled a really decent trophy (must credit NSW WRX club for not scrimping on throphy budget!) and prize packs of Meguiars products, accepted in my absence by the happy fellas from Shannons Insurance.

It really helps putting a name to a username and the cars - by face to face meeting. Also have this slightly biased thought that the old Subes got the most attention and not necessarily the big dollar later day EJ models - bit of a history lesson for many :)

When you think about it - Willys represented the mid 70's, SRX - the early 80's and the Vort - a model later that sort of displayed how EJ's morphed from EA era with the AWD box, turbo and bonnet vent. A lifted L Series with a bit of mud from someone next year ??

Got the details of the XV carwash ad, and details of slight drama during production. Location of ad for the dirt scenes - Lake Bathurst - just down the road from Wakefield Park !

If they introduce a Brumby class next year I'll be in it. Where were all the Brumbies ??

Some great track action was to be seen also, let's not forget !

gla I am not the only one time has gone quickly for -Grants Vortex build started almost three years ago and was Nov 2011 when he packed up early and went home with a broken something, so been a while :)

As for what was wrong with the 77 2 door ?? Your Superlites on the your other 2 door may have pipped me at the post. Thanks for the multiple votes Green Eyes ;)

Steptoe: I think I needed more than just the Superlites, the paint in my engine bay is a disgrace.............. and the cracked bog on the bonnet didn't help either.

Thanks ImprezaSRX :-) I found the pics on this facebook page

Really wanted to attend Subinats, but work got in the way :( But if I forfeit every long weekend of fun for work ($$$) for the next year, my wagon may be worth bringing to next years event :)

So would have liked to meet you guys and seen your sweet examples of old school subis, esp that striking Vort of yours Jonno! Yes it red, but absolute gold:twisted:
