Trip overload October - Robe 17-20OCT11
G'day all.
This is a trip that I'm going to squeeze in between two other's - one's a family wedding in Adelaide and the other is the little desert trip that Subaruby's organising.
Plan will be to travel from Adelaide on Monday the 17th of October. We'll probably camp in the dunes. We'll have to spend one day in town kicking around doing the touristy thing (at least I think we'll have to do this, haven't confirmed yet) probably on the tuesday. Then wednesday we'll hit the dunes probably camping somewhere down near Beachport and head off on Thursday the 20th to camp somewhere like the Glenelg area that Durlgarl (did I get this right?) showed in his trip report on ORS.
Friday will be a day to mozie on up to the Little Desert NP to meet with the crew.
So that's the plan! I'm hoping not to break anything in robe and I'm also now hoping I haven't just jinxed myself.
Cheers
Bennie

If the interested parties would prefer to do a Robe trip rather than a desert trip I won't take offence.
I would be keen to do a Robe trip as I missed out on the last one, (and love beach driving) I but could only make the fri sat sun, not mid week.

Me too, I'm keen for both!!Venom wrote:I'm definitely in for the desert trip on the weekend. It's just a matter of wether i can make the mid-week one or not, if i can't then i'm still in for the weekend in the desert for sure.
I've never been to LDNP, so would be great to get to know a new place!!
My 2 cents...
Pedro.

Nah Richard, I'm in for both - this Robe trip isn't meant to rain on your parade! I'm just shoving stuff in while I'm in the area so to make the most of it. I'll probably be running on the scorpions to adelaide so that I'm not carrying two sets of tyres for road and offroad!pezimm wrote:Me too, I'm keen for both!!
Bring on the desert. I've been to little dip NP and had a ride in the old landy's from the Wimpy's conservation park. But have not been out in my own 4wd.
Cheers

Pezimm, did you manage to get the time off for this or are you just coming and having a few "well days"??
Richard, I'd love it if you could get the time off work and come to Robe, I'd love to show you around this place, you'd probably wet your pants in excitement! But I also realise that time off work isn't that easy for you to get. I'll try and line up the next Robe trip to be Richard friendly
I would also like to know if there is anyone else that's interested in coming or are a definite yes. The more the merrier (and the safer if we get two cars stuck!)!
Cheers

I will get annual leave on that week!! Didn't get any last summer, so this time around I'm "going to town" with a total of 4 weeks off planned already until Jan/12...El_Freddo wrote:Pezimm, did you manage to get the time off for this or are you just coming and having a few "well days"??
I'm thinking of driving across to SA either on Sunday or Monday and catching up in Robe, ahead of a week of fun!
We'll see how we go, maybe I'll manage to get taller springs by then... (just maybe).
Coming back to Melbs on Sunday from LDNP.
Getting excited!!
Pedro.

(or have you locked the days in yet?)
I presume you're referring to the prior weekend...
If so, I think Bennie is busy in Adelaide over the weekend, but I've got the weekend open if you want to drive across on, say Sat morning... We could go to Beachport and have a bit of a play around the dunes there before catching up with Bennie in Robe and then closing the loop back to Beachport through the dunes...
Let me know your moves and I will align mine!
Cheers,
Pedro.

Hey Pedro,
So you're suggesting 15/16th Oct at Robe to Beachport?
I don't think I'd be able to get any time off work that week leading up to LDNP, probably just the Friday.
500km to get there and then another 500km to get back over two days won't leave me much time to play inbetween. (how long does Robe to Beachport actually take?)

I'm taking that week off work and spending it on the dunes at Robe/Beachport before heading to LDNP on Friday with Bennie and anyone else coming from SA.
Should be heaps of fun!
Pedro.

Yeah Damien, as Pedro has said, I'm in Adelaide watching my cousin getting married
Should be a good shin-dig and family get together!
So while over there I thought we could squeeze in a Robe/Beachport session before the LDNP trip - from where I'll be, why drive all the way home to then turn around and drive 300km back in the direction we just came from?? That's basically where I'm coming from on that...
Should be a good time out! Start working the boss for that time off

Cheers

Ok, I'm after a show of hands as to who is definitely in attendance at this stage.
So far I've got Pezimm down and that's about it. If there's anyone else who has decided they can make it please post in here or shoot me a PM.
I've got to get this thing organised on my end as we're moving from Hotham shortly and I'll need to stay on top of things
I'm looking forward to it! Hopefully all the windy wether is out of the way by the time we get to the beach and then the desert!
Cheers
