Hey Vicco's!
I was talking to a new mate last night about cars and what i wanted to do with my little ruby scoo, he told me that from next year lift kits will be outlawed but wasn't sure if it was still legal to have a "little" lift kit (2 or 3 inch) under these new regulations.
Any one got any more info on this or know some one who knows some one who knows about lift kit laws???
I really hope this is a scare campain, otherwise I may be going interstate at some stage to have my kit complianced once I get one fitted...
Cheers

I think you're allowed to have 2" lift without engineer's certificate but 3" requires one, but they're not gonna be able to tell.. I recall VicRoads has that kind of information. I'm gonna get overall 3" lift on my Liberty and not gonna get one, if i get caught - life is too short!

Yeah I would have to agree (as ive heard stories) - they wont be able to tell if it has been lifted too much or something...jsubie wrote:In SA we are only allowed 2" but I don't think the cops could tell between 2" & 3"

I don't see how they can ban them outright. I was starting this discussion to see what others had heard as i didn't really believe my mate (who thinks he knows stuff about 4wd'n but has nothing to do with them...).
I know about the 2 inch legalities in vic too, didn't know it applied to SA as well. It was interesting to read in the EJ vs EA power outputs (or similar named thread) about upgrading the brumby to an EJ22 EFI in SA only requires a little paper work (probabily code for "we'll lose your paperwork, find it then scrutinise your work...) and the ECU to be exposed so the authorities can easily tell that it has not been made to an up market unit...
I'm also looking at a 3 inch kit, i just have to get off my arse and find an insurance company that will insure me for the things i want to do with my car... Its going to be a fun task.
Cheers
