Hey all, I'm at "ground zero" and its just started to rain - that very fine stuff that if we were 1000m higher it would be snow.
I took a quick "detour" home and checked out the main tracks - glad I did as now I'll be packing the c-saw incase there's a tree over the track. So long as we don't take it outta the forest as fire wood its all good.
There are some exciting looking tracks up there, I can't wait. There are also some very scary tracks up there... I've got no idea where most of them go, particularly in the east areas.
There's two geological types in the area, granitic sandy soil and shale/loamy soil area. The latter is the side we're located on. You'll notice it when we're up there when we cross over the change point.
Also, there is a map of the tracks on a new information board that we'll see as we trek in. I'll try and get a photo of it before I meet up with you all.
If anyone has some tarps they would be most welcome - we can use them to create a roof between the cars for the BBQ if the weather is the way it is now.
Venom, your invitation is still a valid one
Hope to see you at 9am tomorrow.
I'll check up later tonight as the last for today. Anything else you need to know/bring etc this will be your last chance to post before my last check. Unfortunately I won't have the latest tattslotto number's, otherwise I'd be using them
Cheers
Bennie

I've got some tarps and rope I can bring. Probably cover 12 - 15 square feet. And and can improvise an extendable pole for a centre pole. We can take turns at holding it up.

Mate, you kept that little post awfully quiet...AlpineRaven wrote:On the back of el freddo's farm having bbq lunch now. This morning has been awesome and interesting. Conditions isn't too bad, some little mud, good tracks to get thru. Will update further tonight.
Here's lunch by the way:

Yes its not a subi, but it did have a thumping 350 chev in it

And a few teaser's for you all to check out:

^ Alpine Raven on "stumpy's track" - the last section

^ Heath matching the Landcruiser's effort on a track that AP and I didn't even think about attempting...

^ Ruby Scoo and myself on "stumpy's track"
And the subi line up at lunch, minus the BBQ "pack mule" - the sherpa paddock bomb:

Somehow I didn't get a pic of Suberman's Lib in the bush - sorry mate, I'm sure someone's got one...
I hope to get a write up done tomorrow with LOADS of pics... Will have to work out how to get eachother's pics/videos so I can start some editing.
I'd like to quickly thank all those that turned up - Heath, AP, Dave, Mick and Brandon plus gail and kez as very late arrivals. It was a good day, I thought we were really finding the good tracks at the end of the day - I know I was getting into them

So, what dates does everyone have available next

Time for rest, I'm knackered!
Cheers
Bennie
No Probs, Bennie. I think AP might have some stills. When I went down to collect her from that first track she was stuck on I took some footage. I'll post it in the Big Day Out Thread.Somehow I didn't get a pic of Suberman's Lib in the bush - sorry mate, I'm sure someone's got one...

Something tells me I may have booked that weekend... Anyway, if it suits others better than the 27th and 28th that would be just as goodVenom wrote:Will be out for me, same weekend my g/f turns 21. What about the other weekend of uni holidays?

So, a show of hands for the 5th and 6th of October for camp/4wdin in cobaw, those that are a maybe please state that you are a maybe and the prefered weekend from the two.
