Kinda expected that - I've come the the realisation that 4wd tracks will NEVER be the same as the last time you were there, especially if you don't frequent the place often.BBoypebs wrote:I'm still keen dudes.
The track is very chewed up by the bigger 4wd's.
So you atleast need a 2 inch lift, bigger tires and a shovel.
Our place on the Murray is near Cohuna - Victoriasven '2' wrote:Cannot do the SE but could catch up at the Murray camp for a few 'lemonades'

I'll be up around cairns during those dates, paddling the white water rivers around the area for a week or so
Also, no left yet eh.... soon enough! Keen for a smash around in some mud sometime soon though!

Stop bragging - actually, I don't mind - I'll be in Robe playing in the sand pitScubyRoo wrote:I'll be up around cairns during those dates, paddling the white water rivers around the area for a week or so

How about we've already smashed around enough - we could go and play in some mud sometimes soon, as kinky as that may sound... All the best with the diff!ScubyRoo wrote:Also, no lift yet eh.... soon enough! Keen for a smash around in some mud sometime soon though!

Nah, never ruled out.. I'll most likely be going in my gen3 Outback. You just need skill. Mods are so overrated :Pbcoutback wrote:So I guess a stock vehicle will be ruled out for this trip?

Have done the SE plenty of times in stock NA L-Series.
The turbo lifted car was just more fun is all!
Great! I'm in. Just waiting to confirm a few work dates.

Damien, I've done this area in my L series before lift. It is do-able but there may be points where you will nose out or just bottom out, it will happen but you should - with the right line - be ok.
Bboypebs - Adam - did it last time in his stock brumby. No issues except three occasions - the first he managed the climb with a run-up, the second he got stuck when we moved off the road for some pushy on comers and the third he simply bogged down in the soft sand after getting rail roaded into some groves larger than his wheels would allow for clearance under his brumby... I got him out without any issues.
Cheers

I am, as stated before, very interested. Still gotta get the green light from my now wife. Specially since her b-day is on Oz Day!El_Freddo wrote:Any Vicco's still keen? Just that you all seem to have dropped off the radar since Pezimm posted this thread alive again.
Would just like to know if the dates I've posted above (post #40?) are good for others or not.
Cheers

Will reply as soon as decision is out.
Cheers,
Pedro.

GONE

Now occasionally driving a Ford barge...
I'm keen, but I'm also a bit worried that my setup right now won't get me far, plus I'm still a bit 'green' in terms of off roading experience. I've never encountered sand before- is it very challenging?
If I can track down a canopy by then I might seriously consider it more. It sounds like an awesome trip!

Don't worry about your setup, take the oppurtunity to get out with a great bunch of guys and have some fun. Sand is heaps of fun and you really can't do any damage in sand. All that will happen is you get stuck and then everyone helps you get unstuck.I'm keen, but I'm also a bit worried that my setup right now won't get me far, plus I'm still a bit 'green' in terms of off roading experience. Yeah I reckon Richard is right - a lift would help and I may have over-reacted in the aim of getting everyone through without getting stuck + I think newer subi's with their poorer approach and departure angles would need some help in that area alone, unless the owners can put up with some possible damage...subaruby wrote:Don't worry about your setup, take the oppurtunity to get out with a great bunch of guys and have some fun. I'm looking forward to it, just gotta sort out some thermos on the 3 core, then I should be set

Venom: Might be a great trip for Ses to take the reins

I think that's it...

My car is pretty set for this, and I've just had a birthday so my camping gear is actually looking like a survivable setup! My brother may be coming along with me. And also sagey is coming in the L. I am really keen for this!
