Don't worry about your setup, take the oppurtunity to get out with a great bunch of guys and have some fun. Sand is heaps of fun and you really can't do any damage in sand. All that will happen is you get stuck and then everyone helps you get unstuck.I'm keen, but I'm also a bit worried that my setup right now won't get me far, plus I'm still a bit 'green' in terms of off roading experience. I've never encountered sand before- is it very challenging?
