Yes and Yes.
I wanna know about this TV program, how did I miss it? My "home base" is 2 km down the road from the "blink and you miss it" township of cobaw, with the cobaw state forest backing onto our property.
There's no worries on setting up a weekend, just need a date really - these one's are out:
last weekend in August and maybe the 16th August too.
I've wanted to get a crew together to explore more of the cobaws, I used to ride my mt bike up there with some mates but there are heaps of different tracks I'd like to check out that have started from motor bikes on old logging tracks. And i've never really been to the eastern side of the forest.
Let me know, I'd be more than happy to facilitate a weekend up here - there's plenty of camping space if you wanna stay the night too.
Cheers

Either of those days will do for me. I was thinking sunday the 10th but if anything buggers up it doesn't give much time to fix it up before going back to work on monday... That was my thoughts anyway.
Have we got anymore takers on the trip? I don't mind it small, just thought there may be more interested for a day trip thats about an hours north of Melbourne. It'd be great to see a small "possie" of 10 or so subi's out 4wd'n for the day...
Cheers

Yep, I'm happy with the 9th of August... I've updated my signature with a link to the trip report of this event... currently it directs you here. Just wondering, is it subtle enough?
I'm going to ask my mate with the feature packed rangie to come along if there's no protest from others. I'm happy for other 4wd mates to "tag" along too.
Cheers

Too easy mate - up calder, turn off for
Carlsruhe and meet at the BP service station.
Just need to organise a time to meet (read time to be outta bed...). I'm pretty flexible on this, if you want to meet early that's no problems for me as I'll be 10-15 mins away from the meet point.
Let us know

Yeah 10am seems fine, would it be pushing it for you guys for 9am??? Would just like to maximise the time out there - if we don't find anything we like we could maybe scoot over to the Wombat forest, not that we should have a problem with finding stuff in Cobaw..

Also, don't forget to bring lunch (can go to local bakery if needed

), camera/video recorder and your recovery gear - just in case I get stuck

(i'll have mine on hand).

AP: Was it as hard to find as I briefly posted?
Here's a map to the servo, the website puts the servo up at the Cobb & Co Rd/Three Chain Rd intersection - there's actually a weigh bridge there. Anyway, the map:
The bottom right note is trying to say that when travelling from melbourne, if you cross off the exits from the bottom to the top this is how it will look (these are main town exits, not every one along the way!)
IF you reach KYNETON you've gone too far, get off at the next exit and turn around!
Hope this gives you a good visual reference.
The 9th must be a good day in August to go 4wd'n: Last year on the same day I was out with some mates in the Eppalock/Mt Sugarloaf area - there's a thread still floating around if you wanna check it out.
Back on topic: I had a thought about lunch - we can BBQ it up at M&D's on the back hill, it has sweeping views of Mt Macedon and the surrounding areas

Let me know what you reckon, meat an stuff will be BYO, can store it in the fridge while we have our fun.
If anyone is a Vegetarian and you don't want to cook on the meat hot plate, probabily best to bring your own cook top as I don't have a second BBQ or cook top to provide I'm sorry.
I've contacted a few different people from the forum, heard back from a couple. I defenetly know that these people will be coming:
Heath, AP, myself

Wraith will be keeping an eye on whats going on, my rangie mate should be there. Other than that, unless you guys know of more that will be showing up that's it at the moment...
I'm going to shove a link in the member's area that I'll delete after the event (I promise GT), hopefully this will catch the eye of more members...
Any other ideas or things I've missed? Anyone got radios?
PM me for mobile numbers
Cheers

Sounds good above.. Looking forward to it...
The BP - you can't miss it... it has large white LPG tank outside, yes if you see it on the right (coming from Melb) and see the BP there, you've gone too far.
Yeah I know where it is so will meet you all there. BBQ sounds great, even have to toast it on open fire! lol
No Radio here - will PM mobile nbr.
Cheers

I wouldn't say you've wrecked your motor unless you seriously overheated it in the process.
Have you done the head gaskets on it before and how many K's on the clock?
