End of Year BBQ...

Post by El_Freddo » Thu Oct 23, 2008 3:40 pm

G'day all vicco's!

After last year travelling to perth for their end of year BBQ I'd like to do something of the same and start our own ausubaru.com or BYB end of year bbq (Perth crew welcome ).

My pero's joint would be open - I'd just have to ask dad as a formality - he likes to be asked...
I'm also open for suggestions of somewhere not far from melbourne where we could do a cruise, bbq and some 4wd'n for those who want to.

So, let the ideas flow.

Cheers

Bennie

Any ideas where we can go that caters for a few cars that are both road going and 4wd?

I use the term cater as in a place where we could possibly organise a general cruise to the bbq, bbq it up then the 4wders go 4wd'n and the black toppers go for another cruise if they so desire.

Any ideas welcome.

I thought there would have been more interest in this!

A few options for the bbq, some I have to check out for bbq facilities first (or I could shove it in the back of Ruby Scoo):

Meet in melbourne somewhere, then cruise up to Hanging Rock via the Mt Macedon Road

OR

Meet in Melbourne somewhere, then cruise up to the Sanitarium Lake on top of Mt Macedon for the bbq.

The Hanging Rock option will cost $10 or so to get out of the park - but its a facinating area.
The sanitarium lake is a bit of open land surrounded by forest on the ridge line of Mt Macedon. The "lake" is an old dam that was used for a water source when they had an early mental institute up there called the sanitarium or something. That joint burnt down then they took the bluestone for someother building, leaving the "lake" a short walk from one of the car parks.

4wding isn't far from this area at all. I'm a little stuck for the black toppers who'd want to cruise after the bbq...

Other ideas include something out at King Lake that we've all been talking about for so long - I've never been out there so don't know whats around the area - anyone care to fill us in?

Cheers

Hehehe... tempting . Money's the factor, plus I want to get the EJ in... Got an issue with the welded diff going in and running the EJ AWD gearbox to avoid legalities of an adaptor plate... pls move discussion of this to my conversion thread in the member's area.

Ruby Scoo also needs bearing replaced, something I hope to do soon on a second set of hubs front and rear...

Cheers

I think that maybe we should just do it in Melb somewhere - a nice easy day of BBQing without much driving.

Also, it should not be in a very bushy area I think - may be dangerous if there are bushfires on.

Melb might be the go then - got a location in mind?

Bush fires won't be a problem unless their "knocking on the door" of the chosen location...

I don't know any areas in melbourne that would be good for a group meet/bbq - albert park any good?!
