Possible trip: Heathcote-Graytown National Park

Post by Venom » Wed Oct 13, 2010 10:48 am

Hey guys,

I had an idea to organise a trip to Heathcote-Graytown national park after doing some driving there on the weekend. Lots of gravel forest trails, will be some mud if its been raining and some very challenging rocky hill climbs at Mt Black/Mt Brown. I've done Mt Brown a couple of times but i'm yet to see the top of Mt Black after multiple attempts in both the L series and the Liberty! Liberty needs low range haha.

The area is beautiful box-ironbark forest with historic mining towns, cemetaries and even old WWII POW camps which are pretty interesting to check out.

Not sure on dates i'm pretty much free most weekends, suggest when you're free and it can be worked out as we go. My preference is a Sat night camp, with option for Friday night too.

Cheers,
Rhys

As it stands I'm pretty much only available on sundays - if I haven't over done it the night before... I'm on the wedding and engagement circuit! I never thought this would happen like 18th's and 21st's!

Cheers

The best time for me I reckon would be Sunday the 31st of October and Monday the 1st of November between the spring racing carnival racing (work)

Would this suit others? Venom, your thoughts?

I'm knocking up a bash plate - FINALLY!

Cheers

Cup weekend I'll be climbing at araps so no good for me...

no lift yet either, too busy buying outdoor gear from the states

Any of you guys been around bright? I spent last week up there with my year 8s and it looks like there's lots of fun to be had. Especially around the buckland valley, a nice gravel track with a few easy river crossings - would make for a good cruise i reckon.
The Green Machine is up for sale :(. Lifted, bars, exhausts... View Gumtree ad

Not been around bright, just Omeo side of Mt Hotham... And you should really stop buying gear from the states that is not orientated with subi activities in Oz! And stop rafting/climbing too - that should free up some time for subi building and 4wd'n

In other news, Ruby Scoo sports a sky blue bash plate. I'm thinking of changing its colour...

Ok so this is going ahead. Bennie and myself at this stage, anyone else feel free to join in. We will be meeting up at Heathcote information centre at 9am on Sunday morning, camping out at Mt Brown on Sunday night and doing some more 4Wing on Monday.

Cheers,
Rhys

Wicked. Big tyres are on. Ruby is still wearing the mess from last weekend's camp for my bucks - the boys got a fair covering going.

Looking forward to it.

Yeah... Just wait till I can upload pics. Reason for not being able to upload pics is that macca is in the back of Venom's liberty on its way to B'rat :D

And I've got a wet bum.

Good times had, thanks Rhys!
