They say mud is good for the complexion & my Foz needs a facelift, so its off to Wombat we go Image

(Besides, we cant let the WA guys do all the trips lol)

Thinking Sunday, 16/2, lets see how many Subies we can get muddy Image

I've only just seen this mate. Sorry to say that I can't make it - gotta replace the water pump as it's now leaking  Knew I should've done it when I had the engine out!

Plus Ruby Scoo is in Shepp and I'm currently in Bender anyway.

Have fun and be safe if you decide to venture out on your own!

Cheers

I think I might come out for a drive as well!

Gotta change my wheels to the A/T-S rims, but that will be fine...

Will confirm by Thursday.

Too right! Bummed I'm going to miss out as from what I've read on ORS there looks like there's going to be a few members in attendance that I've not had he pleasure of meeting yet :(

But even if the water pump was good we've made a call to have a weekend at home for once - our first for 2014!!! Crazy

I might even get the brumby going by sunday, fingers crossed!

Have fun and be safe, I'll be looking forward to the trip report ;)

Cheers

The first bog hole of the day sent a huge torrent of water down into the next hole:

Trip Report

Venom, Pezimm, Dedman, idw & myself met at the Macedon United servo & after a quick intro & chat, Dedman lead the way into Wombat State Forest. We pulled over to air down, but missed an opportunity to line up the Subies...oh well

We soon found our first bog hole, reasonably deep but firm underfoot
Image

As we went through, it sent a torrent of water into the next bog hole lol, but that turned out to be too easy Image

After a while we found a nice little track coming off the main road
Image

Am I really stuck?
Image

After Venom was winched out, Dedman decided he would give it a go too. Using a lot of momentum, he got a car length further than Venom before becoming well & truly stuck in the goo. He winched out forward then, with a call of "I'll stay out of the ruts", tried coming back. The rear briefly stayed on the ridges before falling in & the front followed soon after.

Stuck again! :-P:rolleyes:

As he was winching out I noticed the front wheels seemed to be pointing inwards a lot. When we got back to the road we found this:
Image

That tie rod is meant to be straight! There had been a tree root in the rut hidden by mud that he had hit pretty hard Image

Adjusting as much toe as possible for the short drive back to idw where they swapped out a spare tie rod
Image

After Dedman & idw left, Venom, Pezimm & myself continued looking for more adventure, also a creek or clean(ish) hole to wash the mud out of Venoms front wheel. It was completely filled with sticky, gooey bog. No water was found, everything was dry, but on the way out we found a few nice little tracks. Nothing hard, just very scenic.

Back home, before a wash:

Nice mate. Wish I was there to represent the "old school" subarus.

But I got my brumby going so I'm happy with that instead :D

Cheers
