Lift Kit Legalities and Insurance

Post by El_Freddo » Tue May 29, 2007 10:59 am

Hey guys!

got some questions about lift kits and victoria... Does anyone know what IS legal in terms of lift kits?

And how do your insurance companies go when you tell them you have the lift?

I've been aiming for a 3 inch for quite a while now but have heard that only a 2 inch is legal in victoria. Can the 3 inch be "engineered" to be then classified as legal?

My main concerns with the 3 inch lift is my insurance (like it to be kept low $$$), the legalities of the 3 inch lift and the police here are picky on cars - if they stick their head under the car and find a 3 inch lift, chances are i'd get a canary...

I've also heard that if you get a 2 inch lift kit you'll be happy with it for a while then you'll want the extra inch lift...

Any thoughts on this?

Cheers

doesn't really matter, i'm just interested in what people have and how hard it was to insure the car with the lift kit - did you have any problems with your insurance company or did you have to shop around to find someone that would insure it? - did your premium go up or yearly insurance policy cost more with the lift?

And i'd also like to know about lift and larger tyres, or don't tyres really matter?
