Buying an L series, What to look for?
Hey Suba-Dudes,
As stated in the other thread I am giving thought to buying an L series. Was just wondering if there is anything that I need to watch out for ie what rust/problems etc the L is prone to but might not be apparent to someone who has never owned one before. All advice gratefully recieved.
Cheers,
Corax.

A libertyBuying an L series, What to look for?
If you want a daily commuter, a liberty is the go. They are so much better equipped, are more reliable and more comfortable compared to an L series. Best thing they dont cost much more either.

Depends on your Budget, no offense L series are fabulous cars and also can go more places than Liberty, but highly modified Liberty can beat L series. Liberty is better off car over L series unless L Series has EJ and other upgrades and better drive in....
So have a look at Gen 1 & 2 Liberty, but if you rather L series - go for it mate.
A few years back, I used think "Oh L series is better off than Liberty when I was looking for one, until I drove an Gen 1 Liberty loved it but leg room was bad for me.. so looked at Gen 2 Liberty.. ah bliss.."
Cheers

Yeah I know the libs and foresters are better cars but just want something as an every day driver that I can throw boards/dogs/swags into and not have to worry about . Also need something to drive to Perth and park on the street in front of the girlfriends house that will not get stolen. Lets face it you would have to be pretty desparate to nick an L. Some would say it would be quicker to walk:). So basically a want a cheap, old station wagon that will run forever on the smell of an oily rag that no-one is going to look twice at. To me that says L series:)

well it seems i'm the last firm supporter of the L.
Although a need to upgrade is iminent.
Have a look around the windscreen, rear windows, the rear panels behind the back wheels and on the inside of the doors. Crook Cv's are another common trait for them. Heater core? if you want a heater, make sure it hasn't been bypassed in the engine bay as this would indicate a leaking core. Other than that just the usual.. tyres, leaks around engine etc..
